Rep. Hovey Lauds $150,000 Grant For Monroe
Hartford— State Representative DebraLee Hovey (R-112th) praised the release of $150,000 in Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) funds to Monroe. These funds will be used to install fire cistern tanks in neighborhoods that do not have public water service.
“I am pleased that these funds are slated to be approved at the September 25, 2009 meeting of the Bond Commission,” said Rep. Hovey. “There is no more important priority of the government than to keep our families safe. These funds will be used by Monroe to safeguard neighborhoods not currently served by city water in the event of a fire. I want to thank Governor Rell for making this project a priority, and Senator Dan Debicella for joining me in advocating for these much needed funds.”
The $150,000 will fund three 20,000 gallon tanks in locations to be chosen by the Town of Monroe.
